“TO SEE IT, SAY IT™”

I started exploring photography in 2002 and received encouraging feedback from those who viewed my work. I learned Photoshop and other applications to create a painterly effect in my images. However, I discontinued this practice about a week ago, in mid-June 2024. “Why,” you might ask?

I discovered the much-discussed, feared, and anticipated Artificial Intelligence revolution. I recognized that the challenges of AI often stem from biased information, such as political viewpoints and statistics. The AI tools I am using relate to image creation and grammar-checking engines. I feel confident using AI-generated text-to-image platforms like Adobe Firefly, Canva, and NightCafé for my artwork, while Grammarly serves as a reliable method for checking my writing accuracy.

After determining that these AI tools are primarily unbiased, I began generating images for my graphic design clients that withstand scrutiny regarding authenticity. In just under a week, I embraced the idea that this method produces original art—one-of-a-kind pieces created from my words. The written input is crucial; an excellent description generates great results.

Additionally, these AI platforms allow users to upload “reference” images for structure and style. When combined, the outcomes can be astonishing. I coined the phrase “TO SEE IT, SAY IT™” to describe this process of transforming text into images.

This analogy gives me “permission” to embrace the technology as genuine art. In a sense, my instructions act as a brush that dips into the palette of my descriptions, utilizing the reference image as a sketch to produce the final artwork.
