In 1999, I designed full-color advertisements for Thomas Kinkade’s company, a short-term project secured through my nephew’s employment there and his confidence in my skills. In some ways, it was surreal to craft “art” for one of the great contemporary artists of our time! Interestingly, my son had several of his print editions.
Kinkade’s career embodied both brilliance and hidden hurdles. He spoke at a fundraiser at my kids’ Christian school, and later, I met him at my son’s church. I later learned my wife attended his Placerville school—a striking connection! Ecclesiastes 2:11 cautions that worldly success can be fleeting, a truth Kinkade’s art and tragedy underscored. Yet, 2 Corinthians 4:17 assures that trials pave the way for eternal glory.
What hidden threads of connection might be weaving through your life’s work today? How are you dealing with your “Hidden Hurdles”?
Simple prayer: Heavenly Father, lift us over our human hurdles with courage and hope. May we trust Your eternal purpose through every trial. Amen.
