O hear me, when I call, O God of right,
In my distress, my voice doth rise to Thee.
Thou hast relieved me in my straits of night,
Show me Thy mercy, hear my earnest plea.
Ye sons of men, how long will ye pursue
My glory turned to shame in vain delight?
How long love vanity, seek lies anew?
But know, the Lord sets godly ones aright.
Be angry, yet sin not; commune with heart,
Upon your beds in silence, still your call.
Offer right sacrifice, from wrong depart,
And trust the Lord; He hears when faithful call.
Though many say, “Who shows us any good?”
Lift up Thy face’s light, O Lord, on me.
Thou fillest hearts with joy beyond the food
Of grain and wine in their abundance, free.
In peace I lie down, sleep in safety sure,
For Thou alone, O Lord, dost make me dwell
Secure from harm, Thy guarding ever pure,
In Thee, my refuge, all my fears dispel.
